28 February 2022 - Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, a nonprofit publisher of leading research journals in molecular biology, genetics, and related fields, is pleased to announce new Transformative License Agreements effective from 1 January 2022, with the following institutions:

Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Michigan State University
Oregon Health & Science University
Stockholm University
Stowers Institute for Medical Research
The Rockefeller University
University of Haifa
Washington University in St. Louis

In addition, CSHL Press’s agreement with Jisc in the UK, now in its second year, has added new participants including St. George’s University of London, Queen’s University Belfast, Durham University, University of Nottingham, University of Sussex, University of Leeds, and the Medical Research Council’s Laboratory of Molecular Biology. CSHL Press has also renewed its 2021 OA license agreement with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

“Our longstanding commitment to the dissemination of high-quality research in the biological sciences is reflected in our new transformative agreements and custom bioRxiv channels,” said Wayne Manos, Director of Product Development and Marketing at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. “We continue to work closely with institutions and researchers to address our shared priorities and concerns, such as price stability, author equity, and support for nonprofit and society publishers in the biological sciences.” “As an institution dedicated to primary and translational biological research, Rockefeller University shares many goals with CSHL Press,” said Matt Covey, University Librarian at Rockefeller University’s Rita and Frits Markus Library. “This agreement ensures that our scientists can more easily comply with the open access mandates that various funders have or are looking to put in place. We are excited to be the first example of CSHL Press’s new offering of a bioRxiv channel, which highlights the more than 600 preprints that Rockefeller authors have contributed.” The Rockefeller University bioRxiv custom channel can be viewed at: https://bit.ly/rockefellerbioRxiv

“Through our new agreement with CSHL Press, researchers at the Stowers Institute will gain access to additional journal content and more opportunities for open access publishing in CSHL Press journals,” said Stowers Library Services Specialist Rose Owens. “We appreciate the cost-neutral and customized approach CSHL Press has taken to help independent research institutes like ours meet the needs of our scientists.” CSHL Press is an active participant in the process established by cOAlitionS for transformative open access publishing, as well several technical initiatives such as the Open Access Switchboard. These aim to provide librarians and smaller publishers with a streamlined process for the data exchange needed to manage and grow transformative agreements for all stakeholders. Institutions and research organizations interested in exploring such transformative agreements with CSHL Press are encouraged to contact Doug LaFrenier or Katherine Kelly.
